Can we transfer shares from another location?

If my shares are in Penang, can I transfer my shares if I'm in Kuala Lumpur? Although i have some knowledge in stock market, this simple question i also could not answer.

Therefore, i checked with a friend and she said yes, provided that the processing office is the same company as the place where my shares are residing. Meaning if my shares are in CIMB Penang, I can go to other CIMB branches to transfer my shares.

This is what my friend told me. I have not done that before, and if you want to know more, you have to check with your dealer or remisier.

  1. Should be doable right if you are using CDS under your name.

If you are using an account as a nominee under the brokerage firm, then it might take some time to transfer.

  2. It will take longer time. Assuming my shares are in Penang, and i do transfer in KL, the KL staff will have to get clearance from penang, eg no contra loss etc.

  3. To answer to your question, yes you can actually transfer from Penang to KL. Dont have to be with the same broker. You just need to get the form sign and submit. You will be charge RM10 for each counter (no matter how many unit/lots you have)

For example if you have 1000 unit DiGi and 2000 Unit Maxis. You will need to pay RM20 to transfer the 2 counter. I've done this many times for my client when I was with CIMB.
